Samuel F. B. Morse’s Demonstration of the Telegraph

Samuel F.B. Morse contributed to the invention of a single-wire telegraph system based on European telegraphs. He was a co-developer of Morse code and helped to develop the commercial use of telegraphy.

Professor Samuel F. B. Morse, who was conducting tests of his magnetic telegraph system, employing copper cabling similarly insulated with tarred thread. He lent at least three reels of insulated cable to Samuel Colt who, in the immediate vicinity, was giving his second major New York Demonstration.
